RokComments Plugin (J1.5/1.7)

RokComments is a plugin that supports IntenseDebate, Disqus and JS-Kit, all third party and external commenting systems. The plugin places their comment code directly into an article, whether automatically by menu item of category class, or singularly with a button; as configurable.

RokComments requires Joomla SEF to be enabled in order to function properly.

IntenseDebate Instructions

  • Go to http://www.intensedebate.com
  • Sign up with the site or login if already registered
  • In the dashboard, select the Site Key link
  • There are 3 keys, copy the one prefixed IntenseDebate site acct

  • Login into the Joomla administrator
  • Go to Extensions → Plugin Manager → Content - RokComments
  • Select Intensedebate from the Comment System dropdown
  • Insert your key in the IntenseDebate Account field

IntenseDebate is the commenting system used on the demo.

Disqus Instructions

  • Go to http://disqus.com
  • Sign up with the site or login if already registered
  • Go to the Profile page, once logged in
  • Copy the short name in the top right

  • Login into the Joomla administrator
  • Go to Extensions → Plugin Manager → Content - RokComments
  • Select Disqus from the Comment System dropdown
  • Insert your short name in the Disqus Subdomain field

JS-Kit Instructions

  • Go to http://js-kit.com/comments/
  • Sign up with the site or login if already registered
  • Select Site | Manage in the left hand menu
  • Add your URL to the Add a site to manage form
  • Agree to the Terms
  • Click Add/Restore

  • Login into the Joomla administrator
  • Go to Extensions → Plugin Manager → Content - RokComments
  • Select JS-Kit from the Comment System dropdown
  • Insert your domain name such as yoursite.com in the JS-Kit Domain field

RokComments Configuration

Options available at Admin → Extensions → Plugins Manager → Content- RokComments:

  • Comment System: Choose between 3 options, IntenseDebate, Disqus, JS-Kit.
  • Show Comment Count: Show comment number on the RokComments button.
  • Show Comment Icon: Show icon on the RokComments button.
  • Tagging Mode: Only set toe Advanced if you run into problems with uniqueness.
  • Activation Method: Choose how comments are loaded, either automatically or manually via syntax: {rokcomments}.
  • Menu + Categories Selections: Choose which menus and categories to load comments from.
  • IntenseDebate Account: If using IntenseDebate, insert your Site Key here.
  • Disqus Subdomain: If using Disqus, insert your short name here.
  • Developer Mode: If using Disqus, activate this if you are testing behind a firewall or proxy.
  • JS-Kit Domain: If using JS-Kit, insert your domain name here.
